Malia White may not be returning to Below Deck Mediterranean for its upcoming Season 7 premiering on Monday, July 11 at 8/7c on Bravo, but that doesn’t mean she has said goodbye to yachting. On the contrary, there’s been an exciting, new development in Malia’s career at sea.
When The Daily Dish caught up with Malia at the NBCUniversal upfront in May, she revealed that, not only is she still working in yachting, but she was also about to sit for her officer’s exam at the time.
In fact, it was while Malia was studying at Maritime Professional Training in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this past spring that she ran into none other than Captain Sandy Yawn. The two documented their happy reunion on social media back in April. “We were taking a class for our captain’s licensing. I was like, ‘Yeah, I recognize that person,'” Malia recalled to The Daily Dish last month. “And yeah, we stay in touch quite often.”
Around that time, Malia had been working on a yacht with another familiar face: Jake, who served as the engineer on the Lady Michelle in Season 6 of Below Deck Med. “I am still with Jake,” Malia confirmed that the yachties are still dating. “We actually worked on the same boat. Yeah, he’s the chief engineer on my boat now.”
Jake also accompanied Malia as her “plus one” during her trip to New York City for the upfront. Malia later shared the most romantic photos of their weekend getaway together in the Big Apple on Instagram.
That last yacht that Malia and Jake worked on actually served as something of a mini-Below Deck Med reunion as Season 6 chief stew Katie Flood was also part of the crew, working in the interior. “She’s wild,” Malia said of working with Katie again while speaking to The Daily Dish. “But it’s good. It’s fun to be with her.”
