The Water Revolution Foundation has unveiled the first version of its revolutionary Yacht Environmental Transparency Index, YETI 1.0 at METSTRADE 2022. The tool is able to score and compare yachts based on their environmental credentials to help evaluate its impact on the environment and work towards creating a more sustainable future.Photo: Water Revolution FoundationYETI 1.0 uses data from the operation of a yacht such as propulsion, hotel load and heat to determine the ecological impact and benchmark these results against an average operational profile. The score is determined by expressing the calculated emissions in EcoPoints

and dividing such points with the yacht’s gross tonnage. YETI 1.0 is then able to determine a score that is relative and comparable with other yachts in the same class.Photo: Water Revolution FoundationYETI 1.0 places yachts in three defined categories, under 500 GT, 500-3,000 GT and above 3,000 GT to provide a targeted and informed result within each size group. YETI 1.0 uses data from a vessel’s general parameters, speed-power, load determination, generators, battery bank, and heat distribution system and submits these to an input sheet.
