Silent Yachts presents new hybrid catamaran model, Silent VisionF 82

Developed in partnership with Vision F, the 24.9 metre Silent VisionF 82 concept has been unveiled by Austrian solar-powered catamaran specialists Silent Yachts.
The first model is due for completion this year, and will be built entirely in aluminium with a new parallel hybrid drivetrain.
The system will offer three cruising modes: electric, hybrid, and “power as a normal option you may find on a hybrid car,” according to the yard.
The system makes this model ideal for clients looking to venture into the world of electric yachts for the first time.
When cruising in hybrid mode, the system will automatically adjust according to factors including speed and battery status. In power mode, both the diesel engine and electric motor will be engaged to boost acceleration and speed.
An array of solar panels will be fitted on the extended flybridge and will provide the yacht will electric power that can be sorted in a 160 KWh lithium-iron battery bank.
The aluminium construction of the Silent VisionF 82 allows for increased flexibility when it comes to the model’s layout and owners will be able to choose between a number of accommodation options, including the choice of swapping cabins for office spaces.
The standard configuration offers a large master suite with nearly 18 square metres of space, while the main saloon will provide 54 square metres of space plus an alfresco dining space on the aft deck.
The Silent VisionF 82 is the first partnership between Silent Yachts and VisionF Yachts. “The aim of our collaboration with VisionF Yachts is to share our expertise and know-how in order to support other manufacturers,” said Silent Yachts founder and CEO Michael Köhler.
“Tesla did something similar by opening up their patents and making the technology available to everyone. Similarly, we are very keen to share information about our propulsion systems to help guide theyachting industry towards a more sustainable future.”
