Established in 2018, SailGP has quickly become the highlight of the annual international sailing calendar. The championship sees the best athletes from nine countries competing against one another on high-speed, high intensity F50 hydrofoiling catamarans. The 2022-2023 season is set to see 11 events across the world, having begun in Bermuda this past May and ending in San Francisco in May 2023. The league has been established to nurture international sailors and their sport, growing their fan base and building a much needed passion for the sport worldwide. By achieving this, SailGP has created a pathway for young sailors to enter international competitions, but it has also had an extremely positive impact on cities where the races take place. SailGP leads by example, building its platform and its events in a sustainable way, looking to preserve the local environment and utilise clean energy solutions.
For this third season, the F50s have been upgraded for better handling under foil, allowing for higher speeds and lower drag and further improving the performance and stability of the formidable yachts.
