Joanne McNally has revealed she was catfished by her current boyfriend Alan Byrne, on celebrity dating app Raya.
The admission came in Wednesday’s Extra! episode of Joanne McNally’s award-winning podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me, with model and pal Vogue Williams. The Extra! episode deals with listeners reaching out to the podcasting duo for advice, and usually results in some hilarious revelations from the unfiltered pair.
One listener, Sarah, contacted the podcasters asking comedian Joanne for more information on dating app Raya, which Joanne has been vocal about being a member of and finding love with Alan on. Joanne revealed that, although membership to the app states you have to be recommended by someone already on the app, she has never succeeded in recommending someone, and has ‘no power.’ Joanne revealed: ‘ I don’t know what their criteria is.’

Joanne reasoned that there are different levels and forms of fame and she is at the bottom. She joked: ‘Obviously because fame comes in many forms – I’m the scum of the earth on that thing.’
Recalling that she met boyfriend Alan on the app, Joanne remarked that he had catfished her, having used photos that were ‘like nine years old.’
As Vogue and producer Joe start giggling at Joanne’s comment about being catfished, she indignantly repeats: ‘Yeah, I was catfished – he was using that Diet Coke ad that he did when he was like 23!’
Vogue gasps and says: ‘Oh my god, he did the Diet Coke!’ and then notes that she is delighted that the cat is finally out of the bag regarding Joanne’s beau.
Joanne, who had been using a fake name (Peter) when talking about her boyfriend at the beginning of their relationship, noted that it’s important to wait it out to see if it becomes ‘a thing.’ Vogue agreed, and said: ‘Because then the next person comes along, and it’s like…
