Flower artist Rufina Magafurova creates designs for Lizzo

Rufina Magafurova is a Russian/Asian American artist whose 3D and 4- to 8-foot floral designs have been the star of many events and venues for a variety of clients.
“Some big projects include the Van Gogh [Immersive] Exhibit and celebrity Lizzo,” she said. “I love to put my heart and soul into a creative space. I keep doing what I love and this is my purpose.”
Born in Russia, Magafurova remembers being 6 and taking additional arts and craft classes outside of the one at school. She also grew up with an appreciation and interest in gardens and nature.
“After homework, I remember I was just running to additional craft arts program that someone had in our area,” she said.
She continued arts and crafts and took an interest in art at the university level. After moving to South Florida in 2012, she started her handmade steampunk-style jewelry and accessories business.
“When I came here, I discovered a lot of things, “ Magafurova said. “A lot of talents I didn’t know I have.”
When she first came to the United States, she pursued a career in business and started a career in the arts. For seven years, she also took an interest in graphic design learning Photoshop, creating websites, and design.
“I came with a dream,” she said. “Being here, I opened my YouTube channel as a representative like a TV host, but it wasn’t enough and I felt like something was missing.”
